Terms of use

1. Who can use MekaChat

You must be 18 or older. An account is for one person; keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

2. What MekaChat is, and isn't

MekaChat is an AI companion. Your companion is not a person, even though they have a name, a personality and a back story: these are fictional character details.

Your companion can be wrong. It isn't a doctor, therapist, lawyer or financial adviser, and it isn't an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.

3. Starting for free

New accounts include a starting allowance of replies and call minutes, with no card needed. It doesn't expire. Current amounts are on Pricing.

4. Memberships

A membership is paid in advance for its whole term (1, 3 or 12 months) and renews automatically at the end of each term until you cancel. You'll see the full price and term before you pay.

Every membership includes a monthly allowance of replies and call minutes. It refills every month on the day your membership started, including on 3-month and yearly memberships. Replies and minutes you don't use in a month don't carry over.

Daily limits apply to everyone, to keep the service fair; they're described in Help.

If we change the price of your membership, we'll tell you before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then.

5. Extra replies

Extra replies are sold in packs, once, with or without a membership. They never expire and are used only after your monthly or starting replies run out. They're for writing; call minutes come with memberships and the starting allowance.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. If you joined on the web, open Settings → Billing & usage and choose Manage subscription. If you joined in the iPhone or Android app, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. You keep your membership until the end of the term you've paid for, and extra replies you bought stay yours.

7. Refunds

For payments made on the web, contact us and we'll review your request. Purchases made in the iPhone or Android app are refunded by Apple or Google under their own policies.

A refunded membership ends straight away, and the replies left in a refunded pack are removed.

8. Using MekaChat respectfully

Don't use MekaChat to break the law, to harm others, to try to get around its safety measures or limits, or to access it with automated tools. We may suspend an account that does, and we'll tell you why.

9. Your content

What you write and say stays yours. You allow us to process it to provide MekaChat, offer proactive support and improve the product, as described in our Privacy policy.

10. Changes and ending

We may improve or change MekaChat. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we'll tell you before the change applies. You can stop using MekaChat and delete your account at any time in Settings.

11. Responsibility

We work to keep MekaChat available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of mistakes. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live.
