Privacy policy

1. Who runs MekaChat

MekaChat is operated by [Operator's legal name and address not set yet]. We are responsible for the information described here.

To ask about your data or this policy, contact us. You don't need to be signed in.

2. What we keep

Your account: your email address, the name you'd like to be called, your password (stored only in a scrambled form we can't read back), your time zone and language, and when you confirmed you are an adult and agreed to AI processing.

Your conversations: the messages you write, your companion's replies, and written transcripts of calls. We don't record or keep the audio of calls.

Anonymous samples: the selected character and mood, language, greeting, visitor messages and AI replies, and conversation timestamps. They are stored without an account link. The browser keeps only an opaque reference to resume the sample.

Memories: the things your companion saves from your conversations or that you add yourself, with a link to the messages they came from.

Usage and purchases: how many replies and call minutes you've used, and your memberships and purchases. Payments are handled by Stripe, Apple or Google; we never see or store your card number.

Technical information: the devices you're signed in on (browser and system name, IP address when signing in), error reports when something breaks, and simple product events such as "signed up" or "finished a call", kept in our own database.

3. How we use it

Only to provide MekaChat: to write your companion's replies and hold calls, remember what you've shared, count your allowance, take payments, answer support requests, provide proactive support, improve the product, keep accounts secure, and fix problems.

We don't use your conversations for advertising, we don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

4. How the AI works with your conversations

Your companion's replies, voice and saved memories are produced by AI models from OpenAI. To write a reply, we send OpenAI your recent conversation, the memories that are relevant, and your companion's instructions. During a call, your voice goes to OpenAI so your companion can hear and answer you.

We ask OpenAI not to store these requests. OpenAI's terms for businesses say it doesn't use them to train its models, and that it may keep them for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting them.

You can pause AI processing at any time in Settings → Privacy & data. Your companion then stops replying until you turn it back on.

5. Who else processes your information

We use a small number of companies to run MekaChat, each only for its own task: OpenAI (AI replies, voice and memories), Stripe (web payments), Apple and Google (purchases in their apps), Sentry (error reports), and our hosting and email delivery providers.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

6. Who at MekaChat can see your conversations

Authorized administrators may read your messages and written call transcripts, including anonymous samples, for proactive support, investigating problems, and product improvement. Access requires a verified administrator session; each transcript opened is logged. Conversations are not public and are not used for advertising.

7. How long we keep it

Account conversations, call transcripts and memories stay until you delete them or delete your account. Anonymous sample transcripts stay until manually deleted, with no automatic expiry. “Delete this sample” removes the current sample; starting another sample or signing up does not delete it. You can contact support with its sample reference to request deletion. Account deletion does not automatically remove anonymous samples because they are not linked to accounts.

Memories you correct or ask your companion to forget stop being used straight away and are erased within 30 days.

A data download is available for 24 hours after it's prepared. Records of devices you've signed out of are removed after 30 days.

When you delete your account, your conversations, memories and calls are removed. We keep a minimal record of payments where accounting and tax rules require it. Copies in our backups are deleted as those backups expire.

8. Your choices

In Memories you can see, correct or remove anything your companion remembers, and stop new memories.

In Settings → Privacy & data you can delete conversations, download a copy of your data, pause AI processing, or delete your account. You can also change your email and password, and sign out other devices, in Settings.

9. Adults only

MekaChat is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly keep information about anyone younger; if you believe a child has an account, contact us.

10. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
